Major Job Functions
1 Prepare health and safety strategies and developing internal policy.
2 Carry out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced.
3 Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
4 Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly Implemented.
5 Plan practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and
safety and safe working practices.
6 Lead safety committee meetings
7 Negotiate with managers and operators to try to eliminate conflict between production and
safety consideration.
8 Make changes to working practices that are safety and comply with legislation.
9 Lead in-house training with managers and employee about health and safety issues and risks
10 Keep records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
11 Keep records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers.
12 Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure employee or employer is compliant with mandatory
regulations.
13 Carry out accident investigations on site and producing subsequent reports and
recommendations.
14 Carry out fire drills.
15 Ensure the safe installation of equipment.
16 Manage and organizing the safety disposal of hazardous substance.
17 Advise on range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise,
safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
18 Shall take additional responsibility and any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
