Investment and business
• Cave Cuisine (2013-2014). After listening to people lament about being unable to find a convenient healthy top-quality fast food alternative, I researched extensively and then started a catering business which I then managed for 9 months as a pilot for a national chain. I hired four staff (two chefs and two kitchen-hands), oversaw the development of a constantly changing gluten-free menu, and secured kitchen facilities. Meanwhile, I formed partnerships with 8 gym owners and implemented a successful multi-channel marketing campaign including original branding, website, social media engagement and print marketing. Sales. Payroll and super. Forecasting and budgeting. While the business was successful, the profit margin was too slim to facilitate planned expansion. I closed the business in April 2014.
• Hub International, Adelaide: I was approached by a company called Hub International after its executives became impressed with some marketing materials and social media content I had developed to test market appetite for a coworking space in Adelaide. Hub had already established coworking spaces in other states and encouraged me to take a short part-time contract with them where I was paid to examine business feasibility and develop a business opportunity report examining the opportunities and threats in South Australia, which I completed in mid-2013. The report was instrumental in Hub’s decision to open a branch in Adelaide in 2014.
• Property Investment: Built a property portfolio in Australia (2006-today) and USA (2009-today). Average capital growth of 6% from Australian properties. Net cash return of 14% pa on US residential properties and 19% on US commercial properties.
