- Graduation Project | The Immediate Effects of Foot Self-Care by Mai Nuad Thai on Diabetic Neuropathy and Balance Performance among Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus Peripheral nerve degeneration is considered to be the leading complication of diabetic patients. This results in a loss of sensation in the lower extremities. Perception of movement and balance in Thai foot massage therapy is an alternative treatment that can improve the balance of diabetic patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of foot self-massage with massage device on perception and balance performance compared with manual foot massage in type 2 diabetic patients. After the immediate treatment; SWMT, TUG, and OLS were increased compared to baseline in the experimental and control groups. When comparing between groups, SWMT and TUG were not significantly different. In addition, OLS values were found different significantly between groups.
